Four key areas of Audio-Visual (AV) Technology

Audio

Being able to see a presentation or individual does not matter if they cannot be heard. Additionally, some business environments need to provide ambient noise...which will have the opposite effect if it is distorted in any way.

Display

The quality of the display is important but so is placement. You need to ensure that it is placed at the right place to attract the right audience.

Presentation

Presentations are reliant on being visual, so having the right projector and screen but also, audio is extremely important as people need to be heard.

AV technologies allow multiple users to share content from any device using wireless presentation applications to the screen. No cables, no set-up, and most importantly, no waiting to join.

Collaboration

Collaboration is gaining significant momentum within businesses as they realise the benefits are huge.Likewise, not being restricted to certain rooms to collaborate you should choose portable audio-visual equipment like interactive whiteboards.

To make the most of Collaboration, it is important to have the right equipment, for instance, having the best screen for sharing or showing a video conference.

Likewise, not being restricted to certain rooms to collaborate you should choose portable audio-visual equipment like interactive whiteboards.

The Abbey Centre in Northampton is a mainstay of the local community, providing a much-valued place to meet, socialise and enjoy life alongside the Abbey Road Baptist Church.

After succesffully installing their phone system, we entered the second phase of the project; Audio Visual Technology to ensure that the chapel would have a much easier and more convenient way to display the order of service, songs, and readings. It’s an unusual application and their biggest concern was reliability.

Discover what AV technology we put into The Abbey Centre and how it helped improve their Church.

IPTV

Internet Protocol television (IPTV) transmits content via your internet connection not through a fibre-optic cable, radio or satellite.

Do you want to be able to showcase the same message across multiple screens? Do you want a rolling presentation or video displayed through certain parts of your business? Would you like to stream live events or news in common areas?

IP TV allows you to do this by updating from your computer and pushing it out to one or multiple screens.

Ideal for:

  • Hospitals: Display key hospital information such as delays, advertising and streaming shows or news
  • Hotels: Advertising, Key information such as restaurant opening times and/or check in times and streaming shows or news
  • Contact Centres: Display current SLA’s or stats across the department.
  • Retail: Making window displays have more impact with videos and latest products, aiming to keep their attention there longer to increase the chance of purchase.
  • Communal areas: Perhaps in reception and other key areas to remind staff/visitors of key information, office infographics, company videos or simply improve brand awareness, company-wide.

Wireless Presentation

Wireless Presentation applications allow you to share your presentations from any device for all compatible screens.

Some wireless presentation applications take it further by enabling you to use the application to display welcome screens with room scheduling, automate screens to turn on/off during working hours and schedule imagery and videos to play on loops.

  • Auditoriums
  • Communal Areas

You can take that team meeting one step further but enabling everyone their input, even if they are based remotely, editing and sharing, real-time.

You can get interactive screens and whiteboards which aren’t fixed, meaning you can move them around the office to wherever you want to collaborate.

Ideal for:

  • Hotels: these are great for events that might be held at hotel, so they can interact with other delegates but also, they could speed up a delegate check-in process. Additionally, a hotel could use them for guests who are staying to check-out.
  • Schools: replacing the traditional whiteboard, allowing another tool for learners to use and save their work
  • Meeting Rooms
  • Retail: Big shopping centre use interactive screens to show shop locations and some shops use them to allow their customers to check for vouchers and loyalty points such as Boots and Ikea.
  • Office spaces: to enhance collaboration outside a meeting room

Projectors and Projector Screens

You want a projector which is easy to turn on, set up, integrate with your device and show a great quality image.

You can get projectors which can be moved throughout a business or alternatively, fixed to one location, which is ideal for those who use a certain are, regularly for presentations.

When you need a projector, you are likely to need a projector screen which can also fixed or portable.

Should you opt for a fixed projector and screen; they can be hidden and motorised to release them when you need them, which enhances the space and cleaner feel to meeting rooms, event venues and auditoriums.

Public Address (PA System) / Tannoy Systems

A public address system, known as a PA system or Tannoy system allows communication across multiple departments / buildings at one time by using audio technology such as microphones, speakers and amplifiers.

Speakers

Good quality speakers are essential when you want the audio to be heard, clearly. There are three main types of speakers; fixed bracket speakers, integrated ceiling speakers and freestanding speakers.

Integrated Ceiling Speakers are ideal when you would like to create a pleasant ambience with background music.

Fixed Bracket Speakers are great when you are unable to use integrated ceiling speakers but still want a clear audio, however, they tend to be better placed in corners meaning you may audio quality gaps.

Freestanding Speakers tend to be more advantageous in events when a venue’s room might need to be moved around because of the type of event or number of people in the room, therefore freestanding speakers are a better choice to ensure the audio is maximised based on the event itself.

Ideal for:

  • Auditoriums
  • Event Venues
  • Hotels
  • Retail
  • Hospitals
  • Distribution Centres
  • GP Surgeries
  • Communal Areas
  • Reception
  • Meeting Rooms
  • Training Rooms
  • Boardrooms
